I much prefer booking a gig for months ahead. Gives you something nice to look forward too and by the time it comes round it’s like a free day out!
However, before the day, there is lots to sort out! Time off work, travel arrangements and deciding where you’ll eat. As well as ensuring that you know all the words to all the songs!
The most exciting thing before a gig is when the tickets arrive. This whole new way of emailing your tickets as soon as you order (and charging you for that email), totally ruins the excitement of getting the tickets.
It’s that moment you get home and the letter is on the mat, you open the envelope, check again you’ve got the right amount of tickets for the right day. Look to see the times the doors open. See if there is any hint at the support act. And look at the shiny hologram that will be on the tear of part of the ticket. You tell everyone that needs to know the tickets are here, and you are one step closer to gig day!
