As soon as I went to open iTunes to decide on this weeks Guilty Pleasure, this song just came into my head! Suddenly by Angry Anderson.
I had this song on vinyl single – I loved it and I played it over and over again, I loved the B Side too ‘Falling’.
Any Neighbour’s fan from the 80’s knows this song from Scott and Charlene’s wedding.
The final Song Lyric Sunday of 2014 goes to a song that has always stirred emotions in me. The scenes that poured out of Liverpool after the Hillsborough disaster stay with me and I am always moved to tears by this song and what it means to Liverpool fans. More recently its become more important me as it’s a special song for my fiances family and we remember those we’ve lost in it’s lyrics.
Also personally having lost loved ones and struggled this year, this song is a reminder that you are never alone…
“When you walk through a storm
Hold your head up high
And don’t be afraid of the dark
At the end of the storm
There’s a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of a lark
Walk on through the wind
Walk on through the rain
Though your dreams be tossed and blown
Walk on walk on with hope in your heart
And you’ll never walk alone
You’ll never walk alone”
Just reading the lyrics to this song so I can write this blog has me in tears. And when I visited Liverpool Stadium this year it was a true goosebump moment to hear this song sung from The Kop. Football fan or not, this is a song that is in their blood, that is part of their history. They feel the lyrics as they sing along and they mean every single word!
You’ll Never Walk Alone
So as it’s Christmas tomorrow this week’s guilty pleasure songs come from my favourite Christmas film Elf.
Now I love these two songs anyway but I LOVE even more the way they are featured in Elf. Just watching these clips makes me smile! If you haven’t seen this movie, then you really must.
Baby It’s Cold Outside – as sung by Elf and Jovie.
Santa Claus Is Coming To Town
Enjoy! And remember, the best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.
Merry Christmas Everyone
So my twitter feed is full of the news that Garth Brooks joined Justin Timberlake on stage to sing Friends in Low Places.
I watched this clip this morning, with a huge stupid grin on my face. Firstly, the crowd know the song Justin is about to sing just from the opening chords. I love this… they are happily singing along with no idea what is coming next… This is why I love a special guest at a concert and they don’t get more special than Garth Brooks. Once he’s on stage its just so lovely to see him and Justin dancing and singing together and to hear the crowd singing the song back. It gives me goosebumps just watching it, I can’t begin to imagine what it would’ve been like to be there.
Garth Brooks was one of my first introductions into Country music and remains one of my favourite musicians. I hope I get to see him live one day, that dream almost came true this year and then Croke Park was cancelled. I hope that his current tour swings by the UK at some point.
Until then I’ll just enjoy watching this…
I hadn’t heard this song in a while and it came on randomly on shuffle the other day and I remembered how very relevant the lyrics were to me. It’s just a reminder that you don’t have to have everything under control, you don’t have to pretend everything is ok when it isn’t. And that it’s ok to be exactly who you are.
Who You Are – Jessie J
Not only is this song, Nothings Gonna Stop Us Now one of my favourite songs from the 80’s (I was six when it was released) but it’s also from one of my favourite movies – Mannequin.
